Dry Ice Pellets
"Dry ice is the most cost effective portable refrigerant known to man!" Completely Environmentally Friendly
In addition to being clean and safe, it is also important to remember Carbacid's Dry Ice CARBICETM is made from NATURAL CO2. It does not produce CO2 or add CO2 to the atmosphere and therefore does not contribute to the greenhouse effect.
Dry ice is the solid form of carbon dioxide (CO2) with a temperature at -109.3°F (-78.5°C) or below. Dry ice is especially useful for freezing and keeping things frozen because of its very cold temperature. At normal atmospheric pressure, dry ice sublimates directly into carbon dioxide gas without going through a liquid stage.
Carbacid has been in the carbon dioxide business since 1961, and has an extensive network of dry ice manufacturing facilities. Our experienced staff can answer your questions and tailor a solution to any dry ice need.
Shipping and Storage Containers
Carbacid has a full range of insulated distribution and storage boxes designed for the dry ice industry. These containers range in size from small bags and insulated Styrofoam boxes to PU insulated containers. Custom packaging is also available.
Dry Ice Safety
First Aid
If you do get a burn from dry ice, frozen tissues should be flooded/soaked with tepid water. Don't use hot water. See a doctor if the skin blisters or comes off. If the burn is only red it will heal in time as any other burn.Apply antibiotic ointment to prevent infection.Bandage only if the burned skin area needs to be protected.
Caution:
Keep dry ice away from children if they cannot be closely supervised at all times.
Always handle dry ice with care. It is extremely cold at -109.3°F or -78.5°C. If touched very briefly dry ice may not harm skin, but contact with the skin for more than a second will freeze cells and can cause injury similar to a burn.Wear hand protection whenever touching dry ice. An oven mitt or thick folded towels will work.
Dry Ice Commercial Applications:
- Refrigeration for perishable products on airlines, trucks, railroads, recreational vehicles.
- Flash Pack Packaging - Dry ice inhibits bacteria, preserves beef, poultry, pork, sausage and seafood.
- Grinding-Blending - Cool temperatures are maintained while mixing heat-sensitive food products such as ground meats, bakery blends, spices.
- Shipping-Preserving for frozen foods, ice cream, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, biological materials.
- Industrial Science - Dry ice is used for low temperature testing, shrink-fitting, de flashing molded rubber, rapid cooling and purging flammable vapors
- Medical Science - Dry ice is used to preserve laboratory specimens, blood products, drugs and chemicals. Dry ice is used at hospitals and in dermatological and other clinical applications.
- Emergency Refrigeration that is required after a mechanical or power failure in refrigerated trucks, commercial coolers, cold storage.
- CO2 Blast Cleaning replaces sand and solvents in blast cleaning.
- Halloween Special Effects
- Picnics / Prolog life of Wet Ice
- Camping, Hunting, Fishing
