Our Mining Site
A forest clearing on the edge of the Kinangop plateau some 60 Kms from Nairobi which was once known only as a death trap for the wild animals, has become a thriving industrial enterprise. This is where carbon dioxide is mined, purified and supplied all over East Africa by road tankers .
The site is located above an underground reservoir of natural CO2 gas. History of this valuable resource dates from its discovery in 1933 by Kitchener Morson, a pioneering Kenyan, who had the logging concession in that area. His decision to analyse the gas and establish a claim to the find was far sighted and commercially astute, for today's Carbacid(CO2) Limited. Carbacid is not just a gas manufacturing company, but is constantly engaged in prospecting and exploring natural sources to provide the best quality NATURAL CO2 in the region and not as by product from other chemical processes and in the process recycling and balancing ecological cycle.
